Senior Backend Engineer Java and Flink
Project details:
You will join a project focused on modernizing an industrial IoT and telematics platform. The main objective is to redesign notification services, improve event-driven processing, and migrate legacy components to a modern, scalable architecture.
You will work with the customer’s engineering teams to develop backend services, optimize streaming workflows, and implement reliable integrations.
Project duration: Approx. 8 months, full-time

Key responsibilities:
- Design and develop backend services using Java and Apache Flink
- Modernize notification services and event-driven workflows
- Implement event processing, workflow mapping, and escalation logic
- Replace legacy components, including Faust and direct database integrations
- Develop and maintain REST APIs and messaging integrations
- Implement notification provider abstractions and support migration from Twilio to Amazon Connect
- Optimize high-volume streaming and data processing
- Remove obsolete APIs, background workers, and database schemas
- Develop automated tests and validate data consistency, reliability, and recovery mechanisms
- Prepare technical documentation and support knowledge transfer
Expectations:
- 5+ years of professional experience in Backend Software Development
- Strong proficiency in Java and backend system architecture
- Hands-on experience with Apache Flink and stream processing
- Experience with event-driven architecture and distributed systems
- Knowledge of AWS services, particularly Kinesis, S3, and Athena
- Experience with PostgreSQL, REST APIs, and RabbitMQ
- Understanding of high-volume data streaming and asynchronous processing
- Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of fault tolerance, idempotency, retries, and state recovery
- Good command of English
Nice to have:
- Experience with Amazon Connect or Twilio integrations
- Familiarity with Python-based event processing frameworks (e.g., Faust)
- Experience with industrial IoT or telematics platforms
